The first one is flat, there is nothing exciting there. I’m sure you can notice the difference between these two daylight lighting setups.

To make it easier for you to see, let me present to you two visualizations with textures – the first one is with the lighting scenario from this stage, and the second one – is the final visualization. Perhaps you have had this situation before and you had no idea what to do with this? Believe me, there are still more things we can do in such a case!ģd render comparison of two daylight lighting scenario. However, you can notice that the rendered image looks flat at this stage, there is no depth.

I have whites more towards blue, so I need to increase the ‘White Balance’ value. The idea here is to make whites look like real white. Another thing that we can change straight away is adjusting the white balance. We can achieve this effect by decreasing the ‘Highlight compress’ value. Almost every time I’m working on visualizations, the f irst thing which I change in the Post panel is reducing the highlights. In the Render Setup, choose the Scene tab and click ‘Start Interactive’. In order to do that, click “8” on the keyboard to open the Environmental and Effects Tab and use CoronaSky as an environmental map.

The next step will be adding the sky to the background. If your model doesn’t have IDs assigned, you will need to do this manually.Īdding environmental light to create the daylight lighting setup. Please note that the model elements have already IDs assigned ( ID 1 – glass part of the window, ID 2 – frames). In the end, I will apply the Muli-Subb Material to the model of the windows. To the first one, I will connect the glass material we’ve just created, to the second – basic CoronaMtl. For this reason, we need to create Multi-Sub Material with 2 slots. The model of windows, I have in the scene includes also frames.

Create the basic CoronaMtl, set the diffuse color for full black, set the reflection level to 1.0, and refraction level to something around 0.98. Let’s create a clear glass material for windows. However, first, we need to apply the material to the object.

Click the Plus icon in the Render overrides, and then choose the object your want to exclude (in our case – model of the window). In this example, it will be only the window, so we need to exclude this object from overwriting. Next click on ‘None’ next to the previous setting and choose a basic CoronaMtl.Īdditionally, you need to keep in mind all objects that are made of glass or another transparent or semi-transparent material and can significantly influence the lighting on your image. To do this, go to the Render Settings (F10) and check the ‘material override’ option. It’s good practice to start working on the lighting with the white model. Preparation – overriding materials in 3ds max. The process is not difficult but it will help you make your graphics more attractive for your potential viewers and/or clients. I will show you the process of creating a lighting scenario and using a trick based on the image of the living image from our Arch Viz Artist Visualization Training. The daylight lighting setup process in 3ds Max and Corona Renderer I tried and it worked, so I will present to you a great lighting technique with the use of Autodesk 3ds max & Corona Renderer that will help you too in creating photorealistic, attractive visualizations.
